Hey guys,

Just woke up from a nap and all of sudden my sms app stopped working... everytime i open it, it opens and then closes back to the home screen. I'm still a little groggy, but can't imagine what did it... Only thing i did to my phone today was to jailbreak it in order to add the binkit... i then fugued it and removed some apps i didn't want, like bejeweled, wikipedia, ect... i have since rejailed it and turned it on ans off several times but sms app doesnt work.. everything else does though... I have 1.0.2 and turbo sim.. any help would be greatly appreciated

i have copied the mobilesms.app from another iphone, but i cant copy it to mine... i can't change the permissions of the mobileSMS.app on my phone... the group is Admin as opposed to wheel on other apps..

Go to settings, general then reset click reset all content and settings. it will erase all your media files and your SMS wil work again... maybe someoone sent you a MMS or a weird "QUOTE" text that has different characters which iPhone wont accept it

or you can just sqlite3 into sms.db see what's the problem.. and remove the entry instead of deleting all sms

what i did is i wrote a script that modifies sms.db when i receive such sms, then use Tapp to execute the script. so whenever my SMSapp crashes, i just need to tap 3 times to fix it.

my solution is here, but it's specific to a particular problematic SMS that i get. Since it's a python script, you can just edit it to suit you. The script replaces the problematic sms (that does not have an address) with a fake phone number
