    "Short Message Service" by definition has a limit on 160 characters. It's inherit in the protocol. There's nothing you can do about it.

    Sure, that's why the wikipedia says: "Larger content (known as "long SMS" or "concatenated SMS" or multipart SMS) can be sent segmented over multiple messages, in which case each message will start with a user data header (UDH) containing segmentation information."

    Default sms with more than 160 characters

    hi there,

    anybody experiencing the same problem with long sms!?

    sending sms which consist of more than 160 characters always fail on my iphone.

    iphone has been activated using independence and the sim card I'm using is a German base sim...

    hey! Ich benutze eplus, also wie base auch.
    sms die laenger als 160 zeichen sind werden ohne fehler versendet aber es kommt immer nur der erste teil an. Ka woran es liegt.kann man die nummer des service centers aendern?

    das muss ich unbedingt mal testen. ist mir noch garnicht aufgefallen.
    nutze auch eplus.

    The 160 character is a SS7/C7 limitation. This said, modern phones (including the iPhone) will send multiple SSM and the receiving phone will reassemble them all, such that they look like one message. I've sent/receive many such messages to date and haven't had any problem with this.
