    Default sms backup problem

Has anyone used Tansee iPhone Transfer? If you have, does it require your phone being jailbroken?

I am trying to find a way to get my SMS's off the iPhone without jailbreaking it, is that possible? I've found a few solutions but they all require the phone being jailbroken.

Several tools offer to "backup" SMS. BUT: All they offer is to backup as text or xml. You wont be able to restore them back.
The only working way to do that is to jailbreak the iPhone and copy the sms.db in it's naturlar sqlite format. You dont need to buy any tool to do so, just install OpenSSH on the iPhone and use WinSCP.

I agree with volkspost. The only guaranteed way is to backup the SQLLite database.

You don't need to be jailbroken to backup this file. Simply allow iTunes to backup your iPhone then use a utility that can read and extract the iTunes backup. The SMS database will be included in this backup.

I would not trust any of the tansee software mentioned earlier.

You can try Tansee iPhone Transfer SMS[/URL]. As an extremely easy to use iPhone sms backup app, Tansee iPhone SMS Transfer can transfer the SMS from iPhone to computer and save it as .txt file, .ants file or .mht file, which could copy and backup iPhone SMS before the SMS box is full to avoid losing SMS.
