Good news? Please read the thread dude...
I did this in the start, and posted it, and guess what: Its sucks
In this option:
- THe screen is on 100% of the time = battery drain
- The screein is on = touch activated = clumsy fingers in pocket may call/do something
In the bitter end: this solution is not an option.

The best option, so far, is to let ipod on, with no volume, and lock the phone. ( 24 hs standby) So far, it is the only option I got to leave my iphone operational.

With the Ipod on my battery lasts only for 14 hours without even using any other functions....so that sucks for me!

Mine is lasting so far, 22 to 24 hrs standby with Ipod on... My signal strength is very high (all bars up), maybe this is the difference...

Ok. Tried it all day today. 10+ hours, tons of SMS, web browsing, edge not wifi... Bluetooth paired for 5 hours. iPod usage for about 25 minutes. Still have half a battery. I keep it on my hip ij a case, sp no clumsy fingers issue. This will have to be a situation for me at least for now.

sheesh
omg! and i thought i was alone
...same with you guys i have the same problem. but be happy coz mine is worse..whenever i go to sleep mode the phone just freezes and hangs..so i can never put it to sleep which drains the battery very very fast =(
i sw unlocked..ive done 3 phones with only this having the autolock problem.
i dont think it was an unlock problem...fresh from virgin+ restore(unactivated) i tried to trigger sleep by pressing power button..and the same thing it froze after afew seconds of "sleeping"
i wish i could just have the phone exchanged but i am overseas =(
ive tried everything like playing songs then letting it sleep. or opening an app and triggering sleep...same same same! freezes...and have to home+power (reboot).

Wow...that's even worse!
Well, all the posted 'solutions' are nothing I can live with!
All...let's cross our fingers for ecaramaschis hardware solution. I think he will try it today or tomorrow!

I have the same problem.
However I'm sometimes getting calls through on sleep mode, and not at other times. I'm in the UK, so no chance of returning phone. We brought 2 phones over - one for me and one for a friend. Unlocked both in the same way. His seems to be working fine.
EDIT: Thanks for the 'iPod-playing' workaround. Seems to be working for me, although not ideal.

what are your guys's serial number out of the iphone box and what method did you guys use for unlock?

i really think that it's more of a hw problem. i have tried the ipod playing background/contacts/whatever it still freezes when 'waken up'
i dont think sw hack caused it.
