He is an Apple Service engineer, so I even don’t know if you’ll be able to make this at home. For example I know for sure, that he flashed 1.0 firmware there and after that restored to 1.0.2 again. He was trying to repair my “no wi-fi” issue, but no luck – very deep apple bug…

So far I can tell you how to downgrade on mac. Download 1.0 firmware, press home+power for about 45 sec (you know), than launch iTunes. Then press Option button on keyboard and click Restore. iTunes will let you choose restore file. Point to 1.0 firmware and restore. On win you may try to do this too, but you'll have to press Shift key instead of Option. But I tried this on win machine and have an error in the end of process. But my friend did it on mac.
And he made something else - he recompiled kernel of iPhone... I don't think you can make this. Try to downgrade instead of this.

In the "downgrade" thread, some people warned that it is not possible to downgrade, due the baseband, that could not be downgraded... I really didn´t try.

Let´s wait for his full instructions.
It is better than transform our iphone in a ibrick!

    Thank you for the support!

OK, seems like there are 2 sets of problems.

My phone's problem is that it cannot receive calls or SMS in sleep mode under battery power (only). On waking, it can receive calls, SMS, whatever. However, when it's plugged into a power source, it can receive calls, SMS, whatever, even when it's in sleep mode.

A symptom of the problem is that the signal strength indicator would read zero on waking from sleep, hesitate a little, show 'No Service', then pop back to full signal with my telco's logo. This doesn't happen when it's plugged in a power source.

So, I mucked around with it and changed the motherboard. By the undeserved Grace, the repair job actually worked! I can now receive calls when my iPhone is in sleep mode running on battery power.

As for ecaramaschi's problem, it *may* be the commboard although I can't say for sure.

At any rate, I am again a happy man!

    Roy
