my friend's OTB 112 iPhone used to experience signal loss when the phone is put into sleep mode.

But after I updated to 113 for her, the problem has since never come back.

After hours of studying the bootloader, I have finally found the problem. + fixed it : week 47 and 48 ( they have the 4.6 BL) iPhones which have this call problem have other BL soft hashes than those that are working normally; this *glitch* only affects the interface between commboard and power management unit, therefore in the low power state mode, calls WILL die + wifi signal.

Entering the command (in zibri's ziphone ) " ziphone -b -j -a " fixes this problem, because it replaces the defunct BL with the 3.9 one; it has worked on 5 broken phones so far, all of those I tested, so here you go, a frigging solution that saves battery life and gives you The greatest phone *again* - - - - btw this method shows that the problem is not HW related.

Btw this fix has taken me a great deal of time to find, I would appreciate it if you add rep points (little arrow on the left) and plz domain a micro-sum to rony.fadel@gmail.com if it works for you !! ( thx for ur help fellow iphoners!!)

Then do this: update to 1.1.3, then downgrade the BL and all (same ziphone commands)

thats what i did. I restored to 1.1.3 with iTunes, downgraded the BL to 3.9, then laibreak and activate. But it didn't change anything. I did this all with ziPhone 2.4 GUI version.

...hey, but here is a happy guy:

I have a US week 45 BL4.6 OOB1.1.2 phone, and until now I have had the following problems:
    1) Lost signal after around 30 seconds in sleep mode until about a week ago.

    2) ...where I upgraded to 1.1.3 and jailbroke/activated again. Result: No longer lost signal in sleep mode, but it did not ring when it was called.

And then tonight I followed the guide "Restore to 1.1.3 with iTunes, downgraded the BL to 3.9, then jailbreak and activate" using the GUI from here: http://iphone.unlock.no/

    3) End result: WORKS!! No lost signal - and receiving calls in sleep mode. It is to early to say, but it looks like a much needed improvement in battery life, too....

Hi from a happy iPhone user in Denmark

I haven't bothered to read all 36 pages, but as there seems to be no conclusive answer from a quick peruse, I shall put in my 2cents anyway.

I had this issue with my OOB 1.1.2 I've since tracked it down to:

    dun dun daaaaaaahh

    Navizon.

Only on 1.1.2 and only when "Appear Visible" is turned on.
Assuming it's something to do with it's updating the DB every 10mins with your location, in sleep mode.

    Solutions:

    1. Turn "Appear Visible" off, then restart the iPhone. (if you don't restart you'll get the no signal prob once after you have turned off the appear visible, but should be good from then on)

    2. Upgrade to 1.1.3. Since my upgrade I've left "Appear visible" on, and I haven't had this issue at all.

    3. Whinge at Navizon to fix it.

hi detonate and 10x for your help but,how do i access the "Appear Visible" on the iphone?i'm still using the 1.1.2 (ziphone 2.2) and never update it to 1.1.3.and what is Navizon? i never install it on my iphone.

i read that a lot of iphoners update to 1.1.3 and it doesn't help them solve the problem.
    thank's,again for trying to help.

Derter, I am not sure if you are correct. The symptom is that the phone won't ring while in sleep mode, that is true. But for me the root cause was a crash in the baseband every time the phone was put into sleep mode, that caused the phone to "lose signal" - it just would not respond to the network anymore.

When brought out of sleep mode, the baseband was obviously being reset (or restarted), which shortly showed the "no signal" and sometimes even the "no sim" message, both of which disappeared after a few seconds.

Smile i'm talking about this problem:

My phone's problem is that it cannot receive calls or SMS in sleep mode under battery power (only). On waking, it can receive calls, SMS, whatever. However, when it's plugged into a power source, it can receive calls, SMS, whatever, even when it's in sleep mode.

A symptom of the problem is that the signal strength indicator would read zero on waking from sleep, hesitate a little, show 'No Service', then pop back to full signal with my telco's logo. This doesn't happen when it's plugged in a power source.
