But that's beside the point - like i said, the content of the .plist doesn't really matter (up to a point - having an empty one will do the same thing as deleting it and in some cases even make the PowerManagement.bundle regenerate it.

And yes, it's a software issue, but (at least IMO) it has to do with baseband firmware / seczone, not the OS itself. So restoring, updating, flashing nor reflashing doesn't really help.
Thanks for the explanation. If it is a baseband firmware issue, then it's possible that 1.1.2 or a future update will fix it, since they usually also include baseband upgrades. Am I wrong? Another useful thing would be nailing down the answer to this question: does the issue has anything to do with unlocking the iPhone or does it equally affect locked, untampered iPhones and unlocked ones?

We can say with certainty that the problem is not affecting all unlocked iPhones, whatever the method used to do the unlock. Mine was unlocked with IPSF. But perhaps it's a latent defect on some iPhones that is only brought to light when someone patches the baseband or (!?) does a jailbreak. Or perhaps the only difference between my case and regular US customers is that me, being in Brazil and having tampered wth the phone, can never return the damn thing to Apple in exchange for a new one.

Since reflashing, upgrading and downgrading the baseband fw doesn't help, i think it's safe to assume that part isn't to blame (at least not directly). Could be the seczone (yeah, i know it sounds weird), could be some still undiscovered part of the firmware (from what i've seen here and there, iPhone seems to have a dedicated power management unit of some sorts on the logic board... so what's controlling it?).

The thing that's 100% certain is - unlocking nor a specific unlocking method has NOTHING to do with it! There are oodles of threads on the problem on Apple's support forums - all of them from people who've never even installed a 3rd party app on their phone, much less unlocked it.

    Upgrading didn't help me either.

Edit: Not only that, but it actually made things worse. With 1.1.2 i can't even receive a call! Whenever i get a call or an SMS, the springboard crashes.

    The same happened to me.
I was not even able to make a call, when I pressed the second number (of a phone number) in the keypad, springboard crashed...

    Got back to 1.1.1.

    EDIT:
    Solution for crashing in 1.1.2:

    (replace 00 for oo)

I agree that unlocking method doesn't have to do with it.

Orcinus, is the seczone specific for each phone, or can we replace it with one from another phone?

Hi Derter, do you own this phone for a while now? Which firmware did it come with when you bought?

I bought mine in the end of september, and it came with 1.0.2 firmware, and I upgraded to 1.1.1 in the begining of october.

    What about the other folks?

it has only 2 weeks and came with 1.1.1week 41.
never worked, and i cannot change it cause i'm in italy and the phone is US.
i' was waiting for a better solution to upgrade to 1.1.2 bat now!!!!!
maybe the problem (if is not hardware) is in the bootlader.i read around that it should be as a sort of bios.
If hardware, the problem should be in the ram like many Mac Book with the same iusse.
The power management bundle.plist is identical to the one on my mac.
we all here ope is software but ........

    sorry for my bad english!!
