Too bad for me that I live abroad.

Guess I'll have to keep using JohnTool, without international keyboard.

If anyone finds another solution please post!

    Tks

Well I too live in Canada and got this pay as you go AT&T connection, just to claim warranty !!

Just out of curiosity, what are the first three digits of the serial number of your phone? The defective one I had started with 7R7 !!

Trying to figure out if we guys had a bad batch !!

    Mine is 7T7.

When I bought it, it came with 1.0.2 firmware.
    I then upgraded to 1.1.1.
    Unlock came later...

I was wondering how the upgrade could have affected the iPhone.

I'll drop a line to Erica Sadun to see if she knows something or even can write John Tool to work with 1.1.1.

    Let's see.

    Solution found!

Like I mentioned a few posts above, this is a software issue.. I was using my phone on 1.0.2 for a month without any problems (unlocked using a SuperSim). Then I upg to 1.1.1 and had these problems. So I downgraded back to 1.0.2 and the phone worked fine again.

Y'day I restored the phone to 1.1.1 and then activated/unlocked it via AppSnapp as per the instructions here:

    http://www.hacktheiphone.com/111/howto.txt

So far the phone seems to be working fine.. Last night I left it on sleep and every few hours sent it an sms from my other phone and called too. It received both the sms's & calls every time.

I think the earlier process of activating the phone using iNdependance or iDemocracy was causing these problems.

I would recommend you to try this method and see if the problem is resolved for you.

    Thank You

Salansupa, I downgraded only the firmware and not the baseband when I switched back to 102 from 111. However now Im using 111 after activating with AppSnapp and the phone is working perfect.

Hey guys, I'm happy to tell you this is not a hardware problem, cause I managed to fix it. I had an anySIM unlocked 1.02 iPhone with this very problem and I was about to lose all hope, even JohnTool didn't make the trick for me.

Then, I decided to virginize (as when updating to 1.1.1 to use anySIM 1.1 and unlock) to see if that fixed my problem, performed the procedure, modded, updated, installed and ran anySIM 1.1 but the phone restarted and broke the modem firmware (no wifi, no imei, no nothing!) Then I downgraded to 1.02 and had to plug my phone to a windows PC to use ibrickr and follow this guide to regain all fuctionality.

From there I upgraded using iTunes, and without activating the phone I did the *#307# emergency call trick to access safari in an unactivated phone, activated using AppSnapp, installed anySIM 1.1, ran it and... the phone restarted again at the end... It booted up and to my surprise: IT WAS UNLOCKED!! I then uploaded the youtube files, tested it and the bug was gone! the phone has 1.1.1 firmware installed and unlocked, all services running and no longer freezed during sleep mode. I can't really write a guide because I can't (and wouldn't want to) replicate the problem to take notes of the step by step instructions, but I hope this helps you fix your phones.

I've bought two 1.1.1 phones and unlocked them following exactly the same procedure (from this site). Now one works fine, the other has this problem with no incoming calls when in standby mode. In addition it drains batteries very fast. I've tried swapping SIM cards (they are from different providers) but the problems seems to be with the phone itself.

Can I just try doing a restore to 1.1.1 and then follow another procedure from scratch using AppSnapp as mentioned by firoze and fenoco? Or is it not possible without "virgininizing"? Do I have to skip some steps - i.e unlocking?

Firoze, thank you for your reply. But unfortunately it didn't work for me

    To the other folks:

I've downgraded firmware to 1.0.2 to see if it worked, it didn't, but then John Tool worked.

Then I upgraded to 1.1.1, and now nothing works (neighter the phone rang or John Tool worked)

Then back to 1.0.2 with John Tool working.

I am now going to virginize it, as suggested.

    Tell you soon.
