    Default Setting up a rogue Wireless AP on the iPhone

    Hi folks,

    I am trying to setup a wireless access point on my iPhone that redirects any outgoing HTTP connection from any device connected to it to a captive portal.

    Here is what I need up and running :

    - Software to create the access point (ok with MyWi)
    - DHCP server that delivers its own IP address as a default route and the DNS config
    - A DNS resolver to resolv any name to the iPhone's IP address
    - A web server for the captive portal (ok with lighttpd).

    Well, the issue is that the DHCP server included with MyWi delivers my phone carrier's DNS servers to the clients. Then I have two problems :

    - I need to replace these DNS servers IP addresses by the iPhone's one. I think they should be configured somewhere in the OS, so I can replace them with the mobile IP, but I can't figure out where it is. I could also NAT these addresses to the phone's interface one. But I have not been able to find an iptables equivalent or something that could do the job.
    - Next, I need a DNS resolver for the iPhone. Does such a thing exist ? Or maybe I should install the Perl environment and write a tiny one ...

    If any of you have any clue or advice about all of this, please let me know. The DNS issue is the last thing I need to fix to get this running ....

    Thanks for the help.

    Not sure how much use this will be to you but the hosts file is stored in

    /etc/hosts

    iPhone's Proxy/ DNS settings are here

    Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

    sample

    <key>NetworkServices</key>
    <dict>
    <key>DNS</key>
    <dict/>
    <key>IPv4</key>
    <dict>
    <key>ConfigMethod</key>
    <string>DHCP</string>
    </dict>
