Default Safari not holding the cookies, Help!

Ever since I upgraded to 2.2, and login into any forums and click "Remember Me?" check box, the setting don't stay on safari. I have to re-enter my user name and password when I trying accesing the site later... Any reason why the cookies are not holding??

I have cleared my cookies, cache and still no difference.

    thanx in advance.

I had the same problem after I upgraded to 2.2.1 recently. I'm not sure what caused it, but possibly it was using Cydia immediately after the upgrade, before the first time I used Safari. (I'm saying possibly because it's just a hypothesis -- the only one I can think of). Some Cydia repositories display ads from services that save cookies to your iPhone, and since Cydia runs as the user root, the Cookies file would have been created and owned by root. Therefore, Safari (which runs as mobile) wasn't able to save any cookies.

Another possible cause (in your case) would be an upgrade from pre-1.1.3 firmware. If iTunes puts back your settings, it may get the ownership wrong.

Clearing the cookies doesn't help (it isn't even possible, because Settings also runs as mobile). Connect your iPhone to your computer, use iPhoneBrowser/iFunBox/DiskAid to connect to it, and delete this file:
    /var/mobile/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
Then start Safari and log in to those websites; you should now be remembered.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
