[Safari] Does it keep the connection when pressing home button ?
guys ,according to your experiences
which is the normal (or desirable) behaviour of iphone :
having the turning circle (showing internet data transmission) CONTINOUSLY on the screen (whether safari is active or not)
or having that circle from time to time ?
i'm asking it because i have a problem , especially in beejive msn client
i'm connected via whether edge or wi-fi .. the connection is ok , but when switch pages and/or close the screen (i mean stand by) , the data transmission stops ,
thats really annoying because i want to keep my connection alive ALL THE TIME ?
it was different before , there was the circle turning continously but now the internet connection is ok , but i'm loosing that circle ,it puts the connection on hold ?
did u understand what i mean ? , please help

So when you load a URL, the page is downloaded and the circle graphic is active, but once finished loading, the circle disappears. But i think the connection to the internet/server stays active for as long as either the WiFi or Edge/GPRS is on, until the phone goes into standby, or if you intenionally disconnect.
Hope that helps at all. Wow.... It is hard to explain lol

thank u , i dont want to seem like a disturbing individual
but i'm really surprised sometimes .. why ? because maybe more than 60-70% of iphone users also use EDGE & Wi-Fi
so every one might have experiences of his own , and it's no too difficult to write here and help ..
if it was a hard subject ,that needs a lot of technical info , i would consider a few messages are enough
but if 10 people write only his own iphones' behaviour , my problem would be solved already

for example
for beejive (and msn client)
if i put my phone in my pocket because of some reason (driving , eating smt) .. and in my pocket , the phone goes to standby
then my buddies will not see my online presence on their msn lists ? (because i drop from internet completely)
if it is true , is there a way to overcome this problem?

mobile msn will keep you logged in, its designed to use the least amount of data and you can set the page to refresh every few mins. its pretty bare bones but it does do the job. i beleive you still have to keep safari open though for it to refresh.

mobile messenger ?
you mean a native app ?
or some web-based client that can be opened thru Safari ?

Use the iPod
I also had this problem and found that if i started playing a song in the ipod (with volume set to 0) then wifi would not turn off. This will however kill your battery faster so i only do it if i need to stay online.
I however have not found a way to stop safari from killing a session if i start heavy browsing in a different tab - i am guessing its a memory issue.

tried it but didnt work ..
because the phone doesnt turn wi-fi off , it just cuts off the data transmission (maybe as it should do) ...
this is annoying because when phone goes to standby ,i cannot keep connection alive (for ex. iphone.beejive.com) , web based msn client
