A guy on another forum wrote, that he was trying to buy 2 iPhones in NYC flagship store and was told by Apple employee that as of next week they will sell iPhones ONLY with 2year contract!

Is this is some kind of a joke ? If it was true - it should be all over the Internet and on Apple site - but I couldn't find it anywhere. I went into the store in Miami yesturday and today - they are out of stock/not selling iPhones. Could this be an indication of potential problems?

i just arrievd in new york city. i came from miami and i stopped at a lot of apple stores on my route. also i called all near my route. no one has any iphones in stock....
also they dont know when they become some back. but all at&t had iphones a lot in stock...

so mybe your post is right..

I surely hope not though, unlocking apart I liked the idea of making the contract by yourself.

Sounds like they are phasing it out and sending brand new iphones...

Only the NY flagship store had them in stock last time i checked. I was in DC and couldnt find any iphones...

Maybe, new stocks of iphone are going to be released (ie with a new bootloader)??

Considering the rumors it *may* be 3G iPhones, but personally I think it's too early.
Maybe new revisions with new hardware and possibly new bootloader.

Just called Apple Store in Chicago. No iPhones. "Hopefully, we will have them next week'

I think they've just sold out and they are waiting for new shipments.
It would be stupid to stop sales just because they want to change the policy in one week time.
