Default [Rumor] GPS for IPhone in Feb

I did a search for GPS and couldn't find anything, so i figured I'd pass this on!

It looks really promising and with the POC video to prove it i'm really looking forward to this gadget. Not sure how it will affect Battery life, but if using it in a car,... well CAR ADAPTER.

with out further delay... ENJOY.. http://www.intomobile.com/2007/12/17...he-iphone.html

Car adapter wouldn't work as the gps plugs into the same port you would use for charging.

AHHH.. Good point... I'll blame it on being up for 37 hours as to why I didn't think of that oh so obvious point!! I don't know then... hopefully it won't take too much juice... but it would be powering a GPS chip as well as a microcontroller. Guess we'll find out!

For the triple price of that gps (89$), Better still use the stand alone GPS system. I got one on CL for 250$ only.

I agree that there are better solutions (I have a AVIC-Z2 in my car) but there are times when i need GPS and it would be nice to have it on my phone... I carry my phone everywhere.... I wouldn't carry a portable GPS with me everywhere.. just not feasible. carrying a small plugin module for my phone (while still a burden) is less of a burden that carrying around another unit. But you are definetely right about investing a little more and getting a better return.

Only when accessing google maps... the GPS will run itself... no edge needed.
