Is it possibleto login to the root account using a single command line?

If I write
login root
terminal stop and ask for the passord....

I want something like this
login root alpine
(on one single command line and then I'm logged in to root with password alpine)....

Or making a script doing this?

I'm making a script and need to login as root to get the right permission for executing commands, and THAT's why I need a command line/script lines for logging in as root with password alpine without interaction...

what language are you scripting in.

I'm writing a script that I am going to run on the iPhone......

I take it the script will be run from the iphone? Can you not just ssh into where the script is then give it the required permissions?
