I've heard unconfirmed rumors around Rogers that something really interesting is going to happen with regards to iPhones around Feb 10th.

In the meantime, Fido users have until tomorrow to get the 18$ value pack or the surfing option, and get 4 months of UNLIMITED browsing. Been using this on my iPhone for 2 months already, and used 159mb on my last bill with a 0$ charge.

Only phones sold by Rogers (with their imein recorded) will get the unlimited data. All other imei phones will be charged pay per use.

So far, Fido's 4 months of unlimited browsing promotion has not been IMEI filtered (been using it on my non-fido iPhone for 2 months with 200+mb usage and 0$ charges) and did work using the internet.fido.ca APN and the wap.fido.ca APN.

Tomorrow, Feb 5th, Fido will be coming out with an unlimited WAP internet browsing package for $7 per month. Keep in mind, this is WAP, and not internet, meaning that you will have to access through the WAP server (wap.fido.ca and not internet.fido.ca) to avoid being charged. On the iPhones, a hack similar to the T-Zones hack will need to be done. I still do not know if this will be IMEI filtered, but it is excellent news for Canadian wireless data rates!

i seen the plans on the rogers webpage yesterday. i called a data rep and he didnt go into detail regarding the phone i'm using so i asked if i have to make any changes to my account and he said the changes would be made automatically to my $20 communication value pack. i asked if i had to change any of the edge settings in my phone, he said no. i havent noticed any changes on my account when i log in. i'm gonna start surfing with the iphone and intentionally go over the 5mb and see what happens. never know maybe i can get lucky and they take my data as unlimited. i was thinking that i have the 5mb plan for mobile device browsing and i did go over once and they charged me $170 but they reversed the charges because i didnt know it would go up that fast. they took that as mobile device internet so maybe they will do the same with this as unlimited mobile device internet.

This is not offered for the iPhone (because only phones sold by Rogers, exluding Blackberries, are). Is there a way to bypass that?

An effort is made to find a solution, see post here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27447
