Default Rogers Canada and AT&T US, my take on the situation.

My own personnel experience on this,

3years ago I bought a treo600 from rogers and the sim card came with the phone in the box sealed, first thing I noticed about the card was that it was completely white, no logo on the card at all, so I popped it in the phone, turned on the phone, booted up and I noticed that it said next to the signal strength AT&T name instead of rogers, how weired I thought, waited a few days thinking it would change, powered the phone on and off, still no change same thing AT&T.

I decided to call roger's customer service and see why is that happening, when I called they transfered me to tech dept and someone told me as to why this was happening he said this to me I quote "we are aware of this and for the moment we cannot correct the problem, the reason as to why you get this on your phone is because we are using the AT&T network as part of our provider , rogers uses the same network as AT&T and therefore we are unable to change the name to rogers on older sim cards in which he told me I had, he also told me that they were working on solving this issue and that it would take some time to fix, I asked him fix what, he told me to change the name to rogers and then I asked him just the name or anything else he told me just the name nothing else, meaning that rogers does use AT&T but use their own name instead.

6 months down the road the tech was right, the name on my cell changed to rogers by itself.

For the past 3 years I have changed many phones and kept my sim
the PREFIX OF SIM is 8930, I know some people on this forum say there are older sims with prefix 8901, but as far as I am concerned I do not think that it makes a difference, seeing what happened with me and my sim.

I truly think and believe that seeing the great work the dev team has done with the other sim cards being used with IPhone and their IASign software, I believe 100% that this type of process can be used on rogers, the only difference is that with rogers maybe some other modifications have to be done on the IAsign software they designed.

For the moment I cannot test anything because I use pc and there is no software yet available for testing.

I hope someone will read this and maybe a light bulb will click, so we too can enjoy the IPHONE on the rogers network.

    Cheers
