Hi,

Spoke with two Rogers reps, it is absolutely possible to have a 30$/6Gb plan activated in addition to any voice plan and use it with any phone.

Of course they do mention that they can not guarantee that it will work, but that's normal.

And of course adding data plan will lock you up on a three year contract for both voice and data. Early cancellation of voice plan will be up to 400$ and data cancellation is 100$.

I wonder what will happen if later on one will decide to add a legit 3G phone to their existing voice/data plan.. Will this once again, extend their contract by another three years or not.. ?

They don't keep track of what phone you use with what plan and nowhere does it state it either (except data plans) so I can't see why getting any other phone (eg. a 3G phone) would change your plan (unless you subscribe to another 3G plan for some reason or other).

I don't know about you but an extra monthly charge of $30 for 6GB is borderline stupid/retarded. Rogers tried to charge me the $0.05 per KB [if you're not on a data plan that is].. here's my two cents:

Details of data usage:
Total: 4,036.00 KB = $201.80

So, I called them up ( *611 from your Rogers wireless phone -- and you don't waste your minutes ) and told them that this is "ridiculous" and "ludicrous." The peace settlement was that they would credit me with the $201.80 if I agreed to have a "block" put on my data/wireless internet from my phone.

Done and done.

You know what pisses me off is that frigging $ 6.95 SYSTEM ACCESS FEE...what the hell is that...just a money grab from the phone companies....
