Returning unlocked iphone to apple
My phone is suffering from "dead strip" so i cant tap a part of the screen, im gonna try to take back to apple for warranty. It was 1.0.2 OTB, and is now 1.1.4, so i have no problems with the BL. Im planning on doing a full restore and take it like that....Will they replace it on the spot? Do i need to take the original att sim (although its never been activated). If I take a friends ATT sim, will it work then? Or will they be able to see that the sim does not belong to that iphone?
Any suggestions are welcome thanks

The promble is not deal with the Sim card. The thing that u have to have the bootloader 4.6 which is the newest and obviously ur using att plan.
if u got 3.9 bootloader forget about it, they wouldn't take ur iphone
wish u luck
Actually that is wrong. Bootloader is not upgraded if you upgrade firmware in iTunes. If your phone was 1.1.1 or lower OTB then your phone HAS TO HAVE BOOTLOADER 3.9. They know what bootloader your phone came with, so if it doesnt have the original one then they know you tampered with it. So make bootloader 3.9 and upgrade to 1.1.4. If they ask why it wasn't activated say you were going to give it to someone as a gift, never did, and you have T-mobile or whatever, and have not had time to switch yet. If you can avoid having to tell them that then try to avoid that.
And he said it was unlocked so how is he 'obviously' using AT&T plan?
And if there is no way they can tell you tampered with it and you have a warranty then they have to help you.
Thumbs up appreciated

iPhone "2G" - 3.1.3 - Jailbroken + iPhoDroid
iPhone 4 - 4.0.2 - Not jailbroken (yet)

A couple of things that you might need to know. You must do a full restore and deny any accusations of tampering with it. If you admit to modifying it then they will refuse. Also if you are not using the official plan that comes with the iPhone they will probably ask why it has not been activated. You do not have to say, apple's own web-site states that it doesn't have to be activated to receive warranty repairs/replacement.
