Put it in the microwave for 7 seconds... Go to the store and get help... They will be puzzled and give you a new in box.. Return it.

You could try taking out your SIM and taking it back to them, and say "Yeah, I took my SIM out because I can't use my iPhone", and show them that it's a problem worthy of a replacement.

Doesn't it have to meet either of these two criteria for you to return it:

    1) It's within 14 days of purchase
    2) It's broken

So, unless it's within the 14 days I guess you have to break it. Maybe you should change the touch screen sensor to the highest number and complain that the touch screen is not working good.

    Good luck!

....or just sell it on eBay.

I actually returned mine on 14th day of me owning the iphone. I wanted to exchange it for another one because it had the negative black issue but if I had to prove to them that this problem actually existed, it wouldn't have worked. I unlocked it and had "T-Mobile" on the top left to indicate my carrier. If they saw this, then I probably wouldn't have been able to return it. I just restored the iPhone to its original 1.0.2. firmware using itunes and the shift+click method. If your not familiar with it, just hold down shift while you click on the restore button on itunes to direct to where the 1.0.2. firmware file is located. Then I basically said that the iPhone didn't have all the features that I wanted in my phone. They asked me if I activated the phone and I just said no. They were probably wondering why but they didn't question me. They took it to the genius bar but didn't seem to have done anything. The cashier said that he would take it to the genius bar to make sure everything was ok. I'm guessing they didn't find anything wrong since once you turn on the phone it says something about needing activation, like it was when I first bought the phone. I'm hoping to wait for better screen production in the iPhone till I get another one or just simply wait for the next iPhone.

It sure sucks for them if they can't check the phones without first activating it. :p

    Thanks.
I had a iphone unlocked and accidentally dropped it, cracking the screen. I was quoted over the phone that it would cost $250. But then i heard a couple people got their units replaced free of charge. I made up a story that i slipped on a wet surface and my phone flew out of my jacket pocket...

What I did: I had summerboard so in the preferences, I turned off all themes and turned ON "Skip Last Row" and turned on "Scroll Snap".

I also took my sim out and told them i was using it in my old phone...

It worked but i was nervous as hell when the Genius guy was inspecting and trying to get into my About section in Settings. I was able to get a replacement unit. Mind you, this was last month a day or 2 after they announced their new warranty policy. I was lucky.

i had unlocked 1.0.2 and all of a sudden screen didn't work any more. Can't go anywhere. It didn't feel my touch so I went to return it. The rep wanted me to activate in front of his face. He said, maybe you didn't activate it and let's see how it went. WTF. NO way I am going to do it. I don't have iphone plan with att and I do NOT intend to sign up either. So I told him it's not mine, it's my friends. He said, can I get my friend's information and sign up. WTF again. I said my friend was out of town and I can't make decision for him and tomorrow was the last day to exchange/return. So he went to talk to the supervisor. They agreed to exchange for me.
My experience of returning was not that great. Hope yours will go smoooooooooth.
