    Default Returned Phone Unlocked?

I just got my phone back from my friend in the US (I'm in Canuckistan). I had a dead strip and had my friend replace it from an Apple store. He said that the Genius opened a drawer and took out a phone from a box to replace my old phone.

I'm 99.999% sure it was a refurbished phone. Which is fine, it's still under warranty. But I wasn't expecting that when I got it back and I powered it up, it had been unlocked and ready for my "old" AT&T SIM card (I was on a Rogers card). To be sure, I tried inserting my old Rogers card and it rejected it. It's thankfully still 1.0.2, Praise the Cell Phone God.

So I'm wondering... I need to reset it to it's original state THEN unlock it, right?
Can I sync my iPhone to my Newton?

Just Jailbreak (iBrickr) and AnySIM to unlock and you should be fine
