I want to restore my 2G from a 3G back up, but for some reason the backed up configuration does not show. Is it because of a different type of phone or because of a different type of firmware : 2G is on 1.1.4 , the 3G is on 3.0
If I try to restore the backed up configuration of the 2G in the 3G I do see the option.

Are you sure that restoring a back up from a different device is the way to go?Havent heard something similar.

The ability to"see"the option does mean that its functional and a restore is do-able?

Restoring from a different device should NOT be a problem. I now recall that I even restored an Ipod touch back up into my iphone . But I am seriously thinking that the problem is that a newer back up cannot be restored to a previous firmware. 1.1.4 ===> 3.0 seems doable. 3.0 ===> 1.1.4 does not appear as an option.
Why I want to do that ? It's a long story involving my wife wanting my new phone and I will end up with her old 2G
