So the photos you need were taken after the date of last backup?

Your only other option (except hardware repair) is to let phone go flat and hope it reboots properly afterwards when you connect it to power again.

anyway, i faced the same problem.

Lucky for me I had SSH installed on Iphone, so:
connect your iphone to your PC through USB, launch Ifunbox on your PC, you will see SSH terminal. Click on that and enter " ssh reboot"
that's all.

If you didn't have SSH installed on your iphone, there might be another solution.

The most simple one is to wait until the battery is dead then charge it and it will start.
