Default Reason for error 1600 on 2G

    Hello,

As I have big problems with FW3.2.1 (see http://www.hackint0sh.org/f207/95878.htm), the only way seems to be to downgrade my 2G back to 2.x.

Of course, there are numerous howtos explaining the downgrade process which should be unproblematic on 2G. But here on my 2G it's different. No way to get around error 1600 with restore in DFU mode. Currently I am locked at FW3.0 due to this.

Is there someone who knows what the problem could be. I have an PowerBook G4 with OS-X 10.4.11, iTunes 9.0.2 (tried 8.1, and 8.2 already).

You need to also downgrade your iTunes to restore back to 2.x
any version between itunes 7.7 and 8.1.1 should work for OS 2.x

Have you been able to try this yourself? I downgraded from 9.0.2 to 8.1 and still had error 1600. Maybe I missed an important step while downgrading iTunes.

I just downgraded my iTunes on my windows 7 x64 install to version 8.1.1 (the last version that worked with OS 2.x)

Made sure to remove all iTunes/Mobile Device components (also quicktime to be sure) and restarted. Then downloaded and installed the correct x64 version of 8.1.1

Put my 2G iPhone in DFU mode (it was running pwnagetool 3.1.2) downgraded - without any errors.

I have also done this previously on OS X. You need to be sure to remove Mobile Device before reinstalling an older version of iTunes.

OK, now it worked. I think i missed the /Library/Receipts/ Step. But Custom ipsw still give error 1600. But QuickPwn worked.
