Question for Tmobile iPhone users....
I was told that the Tmobile csr's can tell that you have an iPhone, is that true? and do they even care if you have it.
I am about to sign up for a 1 year contract, and want a data plan, anyone have any suggestions as to which one to get....?

I've made two calls to Tmobile cust sevice and asked them to identify my phone and both times they show I'm using my old Motorola phone. They seem to have no idea I have an iphone.

Do you have a data plan?

Just so you know it is possible to use the $5.99 T-Mobile plan for unlimited data using proxy settings. Search for T-Mobile proxy.

Ive been using my iphone for about a month now. I have the 5.99 data plan and myfaves, including the 9.99 unlimited myfaves texting all for about $55. Data is okay, could be faster, but i have no complaints otherwise. I contacted tmo reps about the iphone and they were happy to help me out, but said the data would not work unless it was the 19.99 plan, which is incorrect. Signal could be a little better at times, but again i cant complain because i prefer tmo over at&t. i dont think they know im on an iphone, im using my blackberry pearl on the tmo site and everything works fine
(knock on wood)

I called from my iPhone after unlocking it to add the 19.99 data plan and they made no mention of it (had a RAZR before). I don't think they care. From what I've read here on the forums YouTube acts funny with the 5.99 t-zones proxy hack. I've had no issues with the full data plan. I got that on one line, 1000 anytime myFaves family plan with unlimited text/picture messages family (sucks the iPhone doesn't support pic messaging yet), unlimited mobile-to-mobile family, and the 2 phone lines and it's about $135/month. From what I've heard that's cheaper than AT&T anyway, and the myFaves thing works great as between the 2 lines we basically call the same 8-10 numbers most often or other Tmo numbers anyway.
I'll never go back to cingular/AT&T because of their service though. Tmo has always helped me out whenever I've had a problem, including getting me 50 extra minutes here and there when needed to avoid an overage.

Even if they did know you were using an iphone, i don't think they would care. As long as they're getting customers, what do they have to complain about? Tmobile was actually offered the iphone first, but they turned it down. Apparently, they already had a few smartphones coming out with the same multitouch screen as the iphone, so the iphone would be redundant.

Remember you have to set up the proxy and that involves working with files on your phone.

i had no idea how... but they do know if they bother to check.. I called in to find out about an order i had made for a new tmobile wing..The CSR said, hey! i see you've been trying out the iphone(s)..cool..
I was aghast but naturally played along.. I have unlocked many phones and tested my tmobile sim with all of them so apparently they have a some sort of log, imei probably with which your phone has been used and can unique;y identify when i t has been used on an iphone
