I recently purchased an iPhone form a friend, then gave it to another friend to unlock. It is a 2G running 2.2 Firmware. I have Tmobile and the service is pretty good.

My only issues are:

Services fades in and out... is this normal?
I am currently paying for the Blackberry Data plan on Tmobile but can't get the EDGE internet.. how do I fix this?
I am paying 24.99 for the plan but it doesnt okr.

Also I have put in all the epc.voicestream.com etc. none of them seem to be the least bit fast.

I just am wondering if it is worth it to keep the service on if I can't fix the problem.

i have the same problem! mines is 3g and when i frist got it, the g1 feature was working fine then all of a sudden it cant connect to the internet. i dont know why its like this, and it definetly goes in and out of service.

The APN for T-Mobile is "internet2.voicestream.com" with no user/pass. Not sure where you got the "epc.voicestream.com" value. I'm on T-Mobile with the Total Internet Plan on my 2G iPhone since 2007 (on v2.2 now as well) and have had really no issues except when their EDGE is down or serviced.

Occasionally I get connected to an IP address via EDGE that doesn't resolve any DNS entries, but a quick reboot will reconnect me to a functioning IP. If I'm in a bad reception area, I'll get the searching and disconnects from all service, but it almost never happens when I'm in a normal reception spot. Not very different though from the old RAZR I had before here in IL. Just have to deal now with that annoying red dot indicating voicemail (though there is none) when it happens

"epc.voicestream.com" is what you put in when your using their 10$ internet plan

"internet2.voicestream.com" is for the PDA internet plans like blackberry and total internet

I don't think this is correct. I have the $10 web2go plan and use "internet2.vociesteam.com", "wap.voicestream.com" also works. I just tried "epc.voicestream.com" and it does not appear to be a valid APN. I have a 2G for what it's worth.

Its epc.tmobile.com .
