Forget it, they don't sell iPhones w/o signing a 2 years plan.

Try telling them that its a gift and u don't have the info for the person u are buying it for. Maybe they will give it to u then. But keep in mind i believe that u need to have and American Credit card. I am not sure though.

No need to do all that.Just tell them that you would like to run the credit check when you register the phone. The ATT store don't make money from iphone sales from service directly, so why would they care. Thats how I got mine, But when/if you go back to the UK, I believe that you will need to get an O2 sim card(idk if thats the service provider taht apple went with in UK), or ask if someone has a unregistered O2 sim from an unlocked iphone, if you don't want to unlock it. I switch from cellone to att because cellone sucks more than att (even though they are the same company now)

When you're buying from a brick-and-mortar store you don't have to have a US credit card. US card policy is only for online purchases...

Actually, when buying online you only need a US address for delivery. I have made a few purchases with my non-US credit card and had them delivered to a friend who currently lives there.

thats through ATT, right? Because when i tried using a Canadian Visa at apple.com it was a no go. You needed US visa/MC AND us shipping address.

I told it was a gift for my dad. The just ran the credit check, and they sold it to me. No activation was required at the moment.
