Hi all!

I was wondering whether I can install terminal / Putty on the iPhone in order to access a network. I'd like to use the iPhone on campus and the network there requires Putty on Windows machine to verify in order to access the internet and terminal on Macs.

All I seem to be able to find is how to use terminal or putty to access the iPhone, not really what I am looking for...

Can I get that on my iPhone? Thanks!

Well, from what I could get, you should intall the terminal app in your phone, then install Open SSH (which install client and server).

After that you'll gonna be able to run the ssh client via terminal on you iPhone, which is the same thing as running PuTTy from the laptop.

how about mobileterminal from the installer app? after that - you can easily use your secure shell to another host. Hmm?

Aaah, the UofA... Am I right? ;-) OK, bottom line: it doesn't work. There is a major flaw in terminal.app that prevents proper authentication: the damn thing quits when you press the home button (and you do have to press it to go to Safari!). The connection breaks, no more internet.

Until terminal.app is fixed, I see no way of getting online through the on-campus wi-fi.

I'm from UofA as well and encountering the same problem, even went and did the online chat help desk and they said there was no solution yet.

read some where that you had to change the binaries etc.?? anyone know anyting about this....

hopefully someone finds a solution to this soon!

Is there an alternative to the defective terminal app for authentication?

Would suck if I can't use it on campus!
