I activated my iPhone with ATT and setup the online account management.. i noticed there was a link called: SIM Unlocking

I clicked it and it had instructions to unlock the phone. I couldn't do it since it said that the phone asks for the codes..

It included a PUK code as well as some other codes to enter.. I wish I wrote that info before cancelling service with them.. : \

so.. maybe someone with an activated iphone can go into the ATT page and get the instructions as it might be useful.


EDIT: ignore this... i just searched for PUK and turned out to be wrong about the idea....... >.<

PUK codes are given by the carrier if you accidentally lock your phone, for example, entering a wrong password 4 times.

It will not unlock the phone for any SIM.
