Default Problems using Iphone dock in car

    Hi All,
I am using a Sony Xplod stereo with Ipod connector with my Iphone. It works fine when I connect the cable directly to the Iphone, but if I run it through the dock, all it does is charge (will not get recognized by the stereo).

I was reading that there are differences between the Ipod and Iphone cables, but I am not sure what specificaly is off. Does anyone know what mod I have to make (either to dock or cable) to make it work? Thanks in advance!!

Bro, I'm just gonna give you a heads up right now. DO NOT use any accessories that don't clearly state that they support the iPhone 100%. I have read MANY stories on here about people frying their phones by using 3rd party accessories. And yes there is a difference in iPod cables and iPhone cables. The difference is in the voltage I believe. But like I said, be very aware of what you use with your iPhone. You don't wanna fry it. And for it working fine, it may work fine for a while, then one sunny afternoon when you decide to kick it and listen to some tunes on your phone, you might be kickin yourself in the head. So just a little heads up bro.

i dont think that the cables are different, the iphone and ipod use the same USB cables, what is different is the powerbricks, and the docks, as they use different voltage.

but yeah i wouldnt use my iphone with any 3rd party hardware.
