I tried opening my iPhone using a couple of guitar picks yesterday, but couldn't even get the bottom black cover off. It's really tough!

If you guys are having trouble getting the case open, I would stop right there.
That's the easiest part of the unlock.
Trust me, I had an easy time opening the phone and am now stuck with a bricked phone because I screwed up the unlock somehow.
Hold off a while longer until ALL fixes are discovered for those of us with bricked phones.
That is the best advice you are going to get. Once again, this is coming from someone with a $600 iPhone that beautifully displays a Yellow Triangle with the words "Please Connect To iTunes" and will NOT boot up any further or restore.
Anyone who cannot figure out how to open the phone shouldn't be messing around with the inner circuitry either.

But I had a hard time getting my case apart, I got the black part off but i could not get the silver part off. I can do the solder part or needle I have been dinging with electronics for a long time.
Can we get new pics on opening the case???
I also damaged me silver case trying to open it
Any one selling the back cases in mint condition silver and black part?

replacement parts can be found here http://www.ifixit.com/
they also have a great guide for opening the iphone http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPhone
it´s really not that hard, just needs the right tools

My back cover is either bent or popped off a bit on one side - either way I can't fully get it off - and the antennae cover won't go back on properly either, since one side of the phone is popped off a bit..I've just put my iPhone back in the case and I can't notice anything, which is good. I've ordered proper iPod tools off eBay - so once I get them I'll pop the whole back cover off, and then hopefully just pop it back on straight away. No way I am going to try a hardware unlock, it's too risky for me and a friend to do - although I'm sure we could manage it. I'm only 17 - so I really don't want to bugger up this phone and end up buying a new one..

No, I noticed the same thing. This isn't just a noob thing. The new iphones comming from the apple store seem to be really sealed tight. I have an iDay iPhone and it was much easier to open.
