Default Problem with transfering songs over

Hi, in itunes when i try to simply drag songs into the iphone from my library like i do with my normal ipod it wont allow me. Ive turned off auto-syncing as far as i can tell and it still wont allow me to just drag songs onto it. The only way ive been able to get songs onto the iphone is by creating a playlist with the songs i want on it and telling it to sync to that list. Is that the only way to get songs on an iphone or is there a way to just simply drag it from my library ?

You CANNOT do that on the iPhone.

The only way to sync songs is by making playlists.

    NO manual syncing yet!

Disk Mode is not yet supported by iPhone. Which is very annoying for such an expensive product. But on the up side there are references to disk mode in the latest versions of iTunes for iPhone, I was hoping this would be activated in 1.1.2 but it looks like it hasn't. Oh well, hopefully it will come soon.

Yeah, wish they (APPLE) had enabled disk mode. I would help me a lot now. My PC just died down and would want to copy all of the thing that I have uploaded to my iPhone to my new laptop.

If I sync it then I will lose all the Music and photos I have made. I know there are apps that can do that which needed to be purchased first.

Is there anyway in Itunes that I can have all of the MUSIC and PHOTOS transfered to my laptop? In contacts you have the option to have iphone overwrite the ones in Outlook.

    Any ideas?
