[Problem] [Solved] iPhone cannot be restored
hello all...i've been using 2g unlocked iphone via ziphone for about 6 months or so...ne ways...i wasn't supposed to undate it to a new version, but i accidentally did. now my itunes been updated to 8.02 and won't go back down 7.xx. not only that, my iphone cannot be restored to firmware 1.4 or 1.2. i'm with t-mobile and it was unlocked and been using it perfectly without any problems. i tried to uninstall itunes but cannot install older version. the message shows something like...library.xx file is in newer version and cannot finish opening itunes....what do i need to do??? help!!!

Find and delete the library.xx file; or accept the 2.x firmware (it's not bad) using Quickpwn to jailbreak/activate and Bootneuter to unlock; or search the forum for further instructions on downgrading iTunes if you really want to.
iPhone 3GS / 3.1.2 JB (PwnageTool) / 04.26.08 carrier-locked, Carrier Logo Fixer / Cydia / 1000 posts on Hackint0sh
Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

why not use quickpwn 2.2?
use itunes 8 to shift click restore 2.2 then use quickpwn 2.2 and that should fix you up

ok if the device is activated and jailbroken u can istall bootneuter from cydia.
The error u got maybe is because u dont have the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloader files, or do you?
Anyway if u dont have them u can google search for them and ull be fine. If u have them and u got this error but ur device is activated and jailbroken, then u can install bootneuter from cydia and then set ur phone's autolock to never, and finally flash ur baseband/bootloader by means of bootneuter with the options:
-bootloader version 4.6 maybe? because the use of ziphone may have downgraded ur bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9
-neuter=ON
-unlock=ON
P.S it is very important to set autolock to never and be very patient while flashing the bootloader/baseband, as interrupting this process will most probabaly end u up in a bricked/useless paperweight. This may take upto 15 minutes so be patient and make sure ur battery is full and is plugged to an external power outlet
Good luck
