Hi everyone. I have bought an iPhone before and hacked it and there was no problem. I gave that one to my sister and bought a new one from eBay.

It is a 2G from the US and came with an AT&T card and a turbosim.

It is currently set on the screen which says 'No SIM card installed' because I have not yet put my SIM in (it's a cheap o2 plan - not an iPhone one). When I do it doesn't work anyway.

So far I have tried ZiPhone, Liberty +, WinPwn and AppTappInstaller and cannot get out of either this screen (which will only take me to the emergency number screen) or the one where you see the iTunes disc and the iPhone cable.

Everytime I try something like ZiPhone it locks it into recovery mode and I can not get out of it. I then have to 'update and restore' it in iTunes (it will only restore in version 8.0.1.6.4 (the newest since Nov. 08 I think?) and then I'm back to square one!

I would be very grateful for any tips or help and would also be very impressed if anyone could help me!

Check the general section here for how to get in DFU mode, it's a sticky.

Put your private simcard in the iPhone (only the simcard, put the turbosim in a nice and dry place, like a vitrine;-), put the iPhone into DFU mode and restore to firmware 2.1 in iTunes 8 then.

Use Quickpen 2.1 (Win) then to jailbreak/activate/unlock or Quickpwn 1.1 (Mac) + Bootneuter or Pwnagetool (Mac) to do the same. Check the sections here in the forum on how-to-

One note: Delete ziPhone, it many brick your iPhone, never use it. It wont work on FW 2.x anyway, neither does iLiberty btw.

best thing you should use if you have no clue what your doing is quickpwn or winpwn bcuz they show you step by step how to do everything
