    Default [Problem] [Solved] Backup 2G, Restore on 3G

    Hi,

    in a few days ill move from an iphone 2G to the new 3G version and would like to know if its possible to backup my contacts and sms conversations on the 2G iphone and restore those on the new 3G device?

    If yes, how? Thanks a bunch!

    I don't know personally if you can do this, but the O2 website states it can be done, so I'm sure pretty you could.

    yes just sync ur 2G with itunes before plugging in ur 3G. Then just connect ur 3G and choose restore from backup in itunes. If ur 3G is a second hand then right click on the iphone under devices in itunes and choose restore from backup.

    Is there also an alternative way, like copying the specific files to have an external backup if the itunes way fails?

    just use the link duck9000 mentioned and repeat the process for anything u need to backup, i.e call history, safari browsing history, bookmarks etc.
