Problem with iphone, keyboard is not showing but can type

Problem with a 1.1.4 iPhone 2G.
The keyboard does not show up at all, just invisible.
But the touch screen works since you can type on the invisible keys, but can't see the keyboard

Anybody hear of this problem? How should I fix it?

try a DFU restore to 2.1
