[Problem] Can't hear anything when making or receiving a call
tried everything! Still have sound problem.....
I cannot hear anything when making or receiving a call, unless i am using the speaker or the earphones. I have checked if the iphone thinks it is in headphone mode by adjusting the volume with head phones plugged in and when they are out. it clearly recognises the difference. I have cleaned the jack, the port for the headphones. inserted them etc etc, never really used the headphones any way, so not sure it is realated to this.
anybody any ideas, it is really annoying!
also have rebooted.
using 8 gb version 2 software.

It looks like a hardware issue. Anyway, try a DFU restore, sometimes that helps.
BTW, title updated from "Please Help!!!!"

It does sound like a hardware problem because I have a phone that does this as well.
But try something and let me know what happens.
With a Sim card inserted Dial *#307# press answer then press hold then decline.

Well this kinda sounds familiar to me. I also have sometimes this problem.
Rebooting are anything else doesn't help but it seems to be related to the phone playing mp3 in background and receiving a call and unplugging the headset while the call is going on but the mp3 playback is paused (in the background).
After ending the call it seems like the OS doesn't recognize that the headset is unplugged and it remains in headset-mode.
You have to reverse the procedure somehow....
I don't have the exact steps but try:
1- start playback of mp3
2- plug in headset
3- start a call (until playback is muted)
4- once playback is muted end call
5- disconnect the headset
now you should be able to use your phone normally.
please report if the steps helped...

tried the suggestion from exupery, still no good, and i must have tried pluging and unpluging the headset a million times. i don't think the phone thinks it is in earphone mode because when i go to adjust the volme it realises if the earphones are are in or not.
called apple UK today and it is still in warranty, it is an ulocked version... if i send it back like it is now i guess the warranty will be void?
thanks for the advice
cheers

I can cause the no sound from iPhone by yanking the headphone plug out while a song is playing
here is how you fix it
1. start a song on your iPhone music player, does not matter if you use the headphones or the speaker phone..
now PAUSE the song!
then quit the music player
now try to dial a phone call.. if you get sound when you push a number, youre done
the problem is caused by yanking the earphones out of the iPhone
the problem is solved by pausing a song before yanking the earphones out of the phone
