[WiFi] there but not really there...

Hey everyone.

I have a weird little problem. Out of the blue, my WiFi isn't working anymore. I did a restore and it still isn't running. Well the WiFi icon on the top left is there, and in Setting > Wi-Fi it shows me connected to a network (a tick next to it). However, I can't access any sites on Safari, can't access email, weather, or anything that has to do with the Internet at all.

Did a restore, same issue. Unlocked with ZiPhone 3.

Please note that I didn't have this problem for the past 3 or so weeks (which is how long I've had my phone)

restore, dont use ziphone, if it still hasnt come back check your rourt and download a app called boss prefs and see if you get ip

Okay... I'm no iPhone genius but I have an ''American'' iPhone and I'm in Europe (have the AT&T card). When I first got the phone I couldn't do anything with it before activating it. To get around that I used ZiPhone.

And I can't really check my router because, well, it's not mine. However, everything else seems to work fine with it. My laptop is running on it, Xbox Live is as well.

lol i bootleg my neighbors wifi too, when you go to check your wifi and you see the network name, click on the blue arrow and make sure its set to DHCP and not some thing eles, thats another thing to check as well, as far as not using ziphone there are way better tools and i hope that ziphone didnt mess your wifi

Okay erm so I'm still a little lost here.

Can you be a little more specific please? It is set to DHCP. It shows as connected but nothing is accessable.

When you are connected what IP address do you get ?

169.254.42.0

EDIT: And yes, I know it isn't a smart thing to give your IP address out but I'm a little more than frustrated at this thing right now.

That is private address, it is safe to give private addresses cause they are inside your network.
A public address should not be shared.

Well, but speaking about your issue, I solved it reseting the network settings.
> Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.

The IP you have is not a real IP, it is automatically assigned when the router dhcp does not assign an IP, also verify if you are writing your WEP key correctly.
