hi,
i activated my iphone with the anderson way. i joined my wifi but safari still doesnt work.
when i try to use safari i receive this message "Could not activate EDGE" (and it is ok, i didnt subscribe the AT&T contract so i dont get any edge) but then "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server". What? which server? im gonna be crazy. i tryed to play with settings without results. please help me.

I have been having the same exact problem. I did the same way you did. I can use it as an ipod, I can update it with itunes. However my wifi isnt working and the phone is not connecting to any wifi. I changed the channels on the router and still nothing is working? Anyone have any ideas???
in my case the phone seems connect to the wifi (i wrote the wifi password and so on). still it doesnt work safari with the error message that i wrote. now is one hour im playing with settings and i think i did something wrong. the phone doesnt seem connect with the wifi anymore (oh my gosh). moreover: no it looks like connected to the wifi again. obviously safari still doens work. please help usQuote:

ok perfect. i google our problems. IMHO we should have very different problems. anyway.
maybe our problem is settings of iphone wifi. intristing post here.
anyway my iphone has both "router" and "DNS" section blank. and in general this is good. both router and DNS should have the same number of IP adress. but i dont understand anythig about that. anyway even if i set up everithing it still doesnt work.
other posts with the same problem (wifi doesnt work) but with completely different solutions here and here and here
maybe we just need to turn off and on our router and reset again and again our iphone settings until god tell us which is the real truth.
but if have to be honest im really disappointed. like most of us here i spent 600$ and i dont have a phone (and it is ok, i knew that) but more my iphone cannot connect to wifi (and this is too much for my patience).
so, please again. someone can understand something about DNS, router, wifi connections and settings tell us something. thank you.

its not only a problem to connect to a wifi "with or wothout" a password. it sounds like a problem of settings. or a problem of "router proneness".Quote:

I know the answer, and I've been trying to post for days now, finally let me.
If you have having an error telling you that it could not activate through EDGE, and your iPhone SAYS its connected to wi-fi, and you gave your router WEP hex-key to the iPhone, for some reason or another, the iPhone is not actually connected. it prompted you for a password, and you gave it a hex key.
What you need to do is set the hex-key not the password for your wifi. To do this, go to -->Settings-->Wi-Fi-->touch the blue arrow key of network your connected to-->this will bring you to the settings of your network-->tap "forget this network" (this will allow you to be promted for the password/hex-key again)-->confirm "forget..."-->go back to Wi-Fi networks-->tap your wi-fi network you wish to connect to-->in the security box, tap the blue arrow (this will bring you to the setting for WEP password or WEP hex or ASCII)-->touch WEP hex or ASCII-->tap back to password-->finally tap in your WEP passkey.
You can confirm that you are really connected via wi-fi because the iPhone will report a router and a DNS number. if it does not, You are not really connected to wi-fi, even though the iPhone wi-fi symbol will be showing at the top.
