I just updated iTunes to version 10.4.10 from the version just prior to that and now, each time I sync, I receive a message at the end saying an unknown error occurred (1660).
The sync seems to be complete and just to make sure I run a backup and I don't get the message just running the backup. I turned off the firewall and shutdown my anti virus program but I still get the message.
Anyone have any ideas why I get the message and how to cure it.

Are you sure it is 1660 the error code?
Have you tried de-authenticating and re-authenticating your iTunes install?
Other than that, try to disable some types of content from syncing (I'd start with voice memos and then music). See if the sync proceeds properly and then try re-enabling syncing that type of content.
it isn't synch related now, I get it when I just connect the phone... a few seconds and the error pops up (it is 1660 indeed).
going to google about de-auth/re-auth (don't know how to do it) and try if that fix it

As Olethros says, usually a 1660 is a problem related to activation. Even though it may happen before the sync begins, it is possible that one of the sets of media that is being synced is causing the problem, so if you really should try unchecking each type of media and unplugging and replugging. You'd be surprised at how many odd things happen right when you plug in that directly correlate to your media libraries.

I just synch apps, podcasts and nothing else; I use mediamonkey for mp3's
my suspect is the error is related to my low free space state.... going to make more room and see what happen
no luck... freed some space and removed podcast synch but this weird error still pops up....
my last chance is to remove app synchronization as well.... am I going to mess something up doing that?
You don't think it's because you are synchronising music via a different tool - media monkey? What version of media monkey are you using?Quote:
