Access to Safari/web in unactivated 1.1.1 has been reached
While waiting on 1.1.1 unlock with my newly bought OTB 1.1.1 iPhone :( i got tired
of typing well known *3001#12345#* sequence for xx times while drooling
at limited joy typing can give, i got bored and did some google.
Found bunch of codes here:
Gave some a try, some worked, many did not but one was interesting...*#307#
(few other codes do same thing).
Upon typing it, phone starts ringing and does not stop until powered off.
However if you dial 0 as example, push call than answer, you get menu with
speakerphone, contacts etc. Push contacts, end call and you get called again
...this time hit decline and you access one of menus with favorites, you can
edit contacts, do a test ride on keyboard, take photos etc. Handy if you
want to see how it works without downgrading to 1.0.2.
While this is probably some glitch and means nothing for unlocking process,
makes me wonder how many other undocumented codes are there and what
could they do. Possibly that Apple build in some code in advance just to be
safe if some day laws in some country demand that customer has possibility to
unlock phone from carrier upon end of subscription.
While all my experience with unlocking etc is pretty much non-existent, maybe it
gets somebody thinking or try some things that bring progress.
Awesome job so far dev team, cant wait to get this baby fully functional :)
* Updated for better overview
(safari to wifi access done by pilot1)
On your non-activated 1.1.1 iPhone:
1. move slider, enter "*#307#" press call, now use the back button on the top of
your screen to remove "*#307#", enter "0" , press call, press answer, press hold,
press decline and you get to the contact list.
And thereafter every time you push the home button you just slide the
"emergency call" slider, then enter "0", press call, press hold, press decline to reach
same menu again.
2. Now you can edit a new contact, test camera, keyboard and add some web-address
3. When you tap the address safari opens but only displays an error saying that it
cannot access the website, it also looks like safari freezes up.
(only if there is wifi signal in range)
4. Now press the home button, and for a split second the iPhone shows a screen where
you can select wi-fi networks. Now you have to be really quick and select/click a network
before the phone goes back to emergency call screen.
Make sure wireless network is wide open for access, no keys.
5. Next you get back to the "emergency call page", you should see wifi icon on top bar.
Upon moving slider every on screen button has frozen so the only thing you can do is
turn off the phone.
6. Turn the iPhone off then on again, from now on it should each time automatically connect
to previously selected wireless network.
(worked for me after doing whole contacts-safari procedure second time)
7. Now you need to repeat step 1 to reach contacts menu and click on that web address
you typed in on one of contacts. You can access email same way.
. And Voilla, you can now use your non-activated iPhone with safari and read your mail
, hell you can even call people over skype with this brick ;)
