Stating the obvious but ...

I have only just realised the full implication of the 1.1.1 debacle. I am in the UK with an unlocked iPhone. I had every intention on November 9th of coming back into the Apple fold and signing up for an O2 contract. However, if the Dev team don't crack 1.1.1 I, and others like me are left high and dry, we can't go the official Apple route with our existing phones. This is just outrageous from every point of view, it is encouraging people to persist with unlocked phones and can't possibly be in Apple's interest. What's more is I am one of the people who paid full whack for the original day 1 phone and not eligible for the rebate due being overseas, in fact I paid $950 with Ebay mark up and UK Tax - if I am not an Apple supporter, who is ?

If we could reset the modem firmware back to normal then do a restore on ITunes when the UK phone is released maybe it would work?

Not sure I would want to as those tariffs are outrageous. Compare them with O2's own 'simplicity' (no contract but pay monthly) tariffs. Its enough to make you cry!

But this is what is so stupid of Apple - I am actually prepared to pay those outrageous prices if they would only let me !!

I suppose I could take the view that an unlocked 1.0.2 iPhone is a valuable Ebay'able commodity, so I sell it and start again, but again that wouldn't be Apple's first choice for me if they were acting rationally.
