My boss has bought an unlocked iPhone in India and brought it back to Europe. It's running OS 1.0.2, and he would like to upgrade to 1.1.1
He has no idea how it was unlocked, and is not in touch with the vendor.
How can I tell what method was used to unlock the phone, so I can safely upgrade his phone using the new method ?
Are there tell tale signs which could identify it as :-
- geohot h/w hack
- AnySIM
- iPhoneSIMFree

Just upgrade to 1.1.1 and try any sim 1.1 if it works... it was unlocked with Anysim 1.1
Else you should revert back to 1.0.2 and virginize the basband and seczone.
And upgrade again after that...

OK sounds good - what about a geohot h/w hack - how do such phones behave if they are upgraded ?
