s/w unlock but IMEI has changed

I unlocked a friends iPhone on the same Mac i used for unlocking mine (using anySIM method) but his IMEI has changed and iTunes now won't talk to it.

The only thing i can think of is that i used the same Firmware backup when i jailbreaked it in iNdependence.

I've seen mention on other thhreads that it due to a mismatch with the commcenter.plist file.

Is this file editable i.e. can i just copy it off - edit the IMEI to match the number on the back and then copy it back.

Any ideas ?? - many thanks in advance...

Had same problem had to run unlocker to get my IMEI back.

we have had a fair few customers who have had their IMEI changed when they used the free unlocker before running IPSF unlock.

But mine unlocked perfectly using the free unlock (i also purchased the IPSF app from you but ended up not needing it) - the problem arose when i tried to unlock a 2nd phone using the same collateral (firmware image).

Should i restore via iTunes (will this bring back the proper IMEI ?) and then re-unlock using a clean backup of the firmware ???

try to use the itunes that was never used by iphones.

i guess thats the risk of using the free unlock

but better support going fwd. The free ones will be maintained and suported - unlike the IPSF one.
