Ring tone software

Ok so theres plenty of tutorials and information on how to load ring tones into the iPhone. I need software (preferably free) to make ring tones. I have been able to load entire mp3 files via iBricker but don't want an entire song just a 30 clip. Anyone?:confused:

there are loads of software to do that...
just google for mp3 cutting/editing software...
on the otherhand if you want to get 10-20s premade clips of songs...you'll have to paypal me :)

Thanks for the useless information. If I want to pay for ringtines I'll just use iTunes :rolleyes:

Anyone else have a program that they actually use and recommend. I don't want to google, come up with countless programs and rack my brain deciding what works best.

On Windows? I load the MP3 in Windows Movie Maker,
use the edit tool to the leave only the portion of the song I want,publish movie, it will publish it to a WMA file, launch iTunes, drag and drop the WMV file ito iTunes, Itunes will automatically convert it to AAC and ready for ringtone format.

I am using GarageBand, a software that came with my Mac, its Mac only.

you do realise you can use iTunes itself (on a mac at least) to do this?

just go to the song, click get info, choose your start and end times, play song to check the clip is the clip u want, and then use convert to aac. a new file will be created which is the required length and in the format you want, then you just revert the changes and bob's your uncle you have a new ringtone file...

ok so it's a few steps but seriously non complicated and it works. I put a 30 second part of the Imperial Death March on my iphone this way so... yes it does. :)


edit - volkspost, I didn't think of that option. Now I can finally try out Garageband (bet it's way more complicated but probably better!)
