Reset iPhone password
I had the great idea of password protecting my iPhone. Unfortunately it seems like my 2580 combo didnt get recognized the way it was supposed to and now im locked out from my iPhone.
Is there any way to reset the password or disabling the password question using SSH? CHanging some plist / config file maybe?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I hate reseting my iPhone, it takes forever ;)
Found a solution myself, maybe it can help you, too:
Use OpenSSH to connect to your iPhone. Go to the folder /var/root/Library/Preferences/ and edit the com.apple.springboard.plist and change the values for "Password Protected" and SBDeviceLockFailedAttempts" to 0 (Zero). Next delete the keys "SBDeviceLockBlockTimeIntervalSinceReferenceDa te" and "SBDeviceLockGracePeriod" completely. Now restart your iPhone and youre good to go!
Could you spell it out a little simpler please. I have just installed OpenSSH 3.8.1 on my Windows Xp computer, could you give me step-by-step directions on how to open and access the OpenSSH to access the iPhone?
This is an old thread talking about 1.1.4 fw
I'm sure this type of deleting files to reset passwords doesn't work with 2.x & 3.x
