Question about iPhone's "legality" as a closed platform.
To all the members here that are smarter and more involved than me, I have a question, which may sound stupid, but I would really like an answer.
The iPhone is running an OS, that is or is based on OS X, meaning it's kernel and many low level functions are open source, just like OS X. Maybe if it is a special OS X version, it is based on FreeBSD.
How can Apple keep a device locked and closed, when part of it is based on Open Source software? Aren't themselves breaking some kind of law?
