[Prediction/Opinion] Upcoming firmware release.

Hope I'm wrong, but here's my prediction.

New iPhone firmware will be released next week, BUT...
It won't be 1.1.3

Apple will have changed it just enough to render any use of the "leaked" 1.1.3 useless for unlocking.

Apple knows exactly what they are doing, they leaked it themselves to encourage hackers to find the problems.
That way they can fix them before releasing, and not have to pay out of their own pocket for it.

Why devote precious engineering/developers to the task, the hacker community does it for free...

It could be right, if there was anything from Dev Team about security holes in 1.1.3... But we don't have it yet (I mean, info on holes). Let's see what happens

I think the timing was critical, the supposed "leak" happened right after christmas, about the time when everyone who got iphones for the holidays would probably start to hack them. I think it was Apple's way of giving people second thoughts.

And, by the way, there is definitely something odd about this whole leaked 1.1.3 business, considering the fact that Apple, #1 fan of the C&D notice, has yet to fire one off. I am almost 100% certain that this "leak" was in fact planned, but for what purpose, I don't know.

What i want to know is what happens on monday when the update comes out and someone want to upgrade to 1.1.2, how do they do that? Thats going to be a big problem.

rdawodu, its easy. Hold down shift when selecting the update option in itunes and select your firmware file. Just make sure you download 1.1.2
