Number formatting for contacts names?

Hi all,

Greetings from Hong Kong.. I have a problem with correct display of contacts' names when using the full country coded phone number in my address book.

For example. If my contacts number is +85212345678 is will not show the contacts name when they call. If however, it is just the regular eight digit number it will.

Any tips on how I might fix this without having to remove the +852 from all my numbers to allow it to work would be greatly appreciated. I frequently use the phone from overseas and it would be a pain to manually have to enter the number.
