No EDGE-Settings Menu after anySIM-Unlock?

Hey guys,

this is strange:

I unlocked 2 brand-new out-of-the-box iPhones using iNdependen and the first public version of anySIM. Both phones already had Firmware 1.0.2 (1C28) installed, so I didn't not do a restore before unlocking.

Now, the unlock process went fine (except for anySIM giving me the infamous "the flash operation succeded but the unlock commands falied. you might want to check the baseband manaully using minicom" error - rebooted the iphone, and it was unlocked)

But: There is no menu entry for changing the EDGE settings under Settings > General > Network... now how can I change those settings to work with t-mobile?!

if your tmobile simcard is inside your phone you should have EDGE, VPN, WI-FI settings. Do you get signal from tmobile on top of your iphone?

Yes, calling etc. works fine - just no menu to change EDGE settings - also the carrier menu is missing from the settings menu main screen.

I'm having the same issue. I was looking for someway to fix that too.

No quick solution here but I was wondering if this may be related to the lockdownd patch. Does simfree.app patch this file? If so, it may explain because after patching lockdownd I found that iActivator (& presumably the iPhone itself) is recognised as being 'Factory Activated'. Bare in mind that iPhones running on the AT&T network and activated in the normal manner (don't know if that qualifies for 'Factory Activated') do not show EDGE settings in the General menu. I patched lockdownd but didn't check for the menu option to appear after, instead I edited the plist file but can report that now I do see the EDGE option settings under General - maybe it was the plist edit that made the option come to life??? Something to check anyway.

Hubbards: What specific .plist file did you need to edit to force the EDGE menu to show up (God knows there's alot of them!)? I don't see anything that looks right in the

/private/var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

file.

Okay, i think i found the reason. I switched my SIM card from my US ATT card (one i bought at walmart for $20, not the one that came with the iphone) with my SIM card from poland. Now, my polish sim card does not work here at all so I get an error with that sim card to connect to iTunes to reactivate, but i believe it will work when i get back to poland. Anway, with this sim card the EDGE options DO show up.

Now if i can just disable the EDGE stuff with the ATT card...
