Yeah I read that also. It was also on gizmodo. Its BS. (atleast here in Texas). Police have to have "probable cause" to do anything. I was once pulled over for turning on red and the "pig" decides I need to step out and search me and my shit. Long story short: he finds my "stash" takes me to jail based off a warrant I had for a prior speeding ticket, books me and an hour later the judge is kicking me out of his courtroom with my speeding ticket paid off with "time served" and the charges of "possesion" and "turning on red" getting thrown out based on the fact that he had no probable cause to pull me over much less search me (you can turn right on red provided there is no sign prohibiting it.)..
Anywho... Point is they can only screw you if you let 'em.. Besides... WTF could you have on your phone to be scared of? *!retorical question!* (I don't even want to know)
Cop has right to search your phone IF the phone is not password protected and you don't give them the password. You have the right to remain silent.
So what if the police search your iPhone. What in the fuck is he gonna do? Play a quick game of Tap Tap Revolution or something???
huh?
If the phone isn't password protected and you don't give them the password(which doesn't exist because, well, its not password protected) THEN they have a right to search your phone? What tha....
They still need "probable cause" to search ANYTHING. Cops can't do anything just because they "feel" like it.
